GAA Art
My love of creating GAA art started with the painting of Birthright & continues to grow
GAA art has become an integral part of my life. My original painting Birthright was donated to the Brosnan family, in loving memory of Tommy Brosnan and in order to raise funds for Irish Motor Neurons Disease Association. In addition, it was also painted in honour my brother in law, Stocky O’Mahony. Both of these lovely gentlemen died from Motor Neuron Disease. Subsequently, my original oil painting of Birthright was bought by Kerry GAA through Eoin “Bomber” Liston. It was then sold in New York to raise funds for the Centre of Excellence. From those origins, gratefully, I have received commissions from GAA fans across the world.
My GAA Origins
Although I am a native of Tipperary, I reside in beautiful county Kerry. Therefore I maintain a little neutrality in terms of the team I support! I simply support the nationwide GAA community spirit and I have seen first hand the positive benefits of GAA involvement throughout my life. I believe that the strength of GAA culture and community is indeed our Irish Birthright.
Please see below for some samples of my past GAA portraits. Some are portraits of a great players however I also love to paint some of the many great off-pitch players, who voluntarily keep our local clubs afloat. Should you wish to commission a piece of art from me, please feel free to get in touch.
