Fundraising for Hospice

Man holdiong a print

Hospice Fundraising. Last September in the run up to the All-Ireland I held an auction on Twitter. Two First Blood Fine Art Prints depicting the rivalry and deep respect that exists between the Brogans and O’Sé families and of course Dublin and Kerry. The two prints were signed by the three O’Sé and the three Brogan brothers. The proceeds were divided equally between St Francis Hospice Dublin and Kerry Hospice. Many thanks to  the footballers for their signatures.  This auction got a great response, with lots of bids over the week. Due to the generosity of  both buyers  much needed funds were raised for Hospice. A very special thank you to Marc, for getting the prints signed.

Seanbhean na hÉireann

Beautiful commission to get. Thank you to Angela Stack, her grandmother Catherine is 101 years old and still going strong. A pleasure to paint, lovely lady. Seanbhean na Éireann.

Born, March 1st 1916 – Died peacefully on April 17th 2018

Seanbhean na Éireann. Catherine Stack was born in March 1916 and is originally from Ardfert, Co Kerry

Seanbhean na Éireann. She has four Children, two boys & two girls and currently lives in Killorglin where she settled with her late husband.  At 102 years of age, Grandmother (or the boss) has a tremendous memory, recalling events from the age of six, the war, the soldiers that used to march past her parents door, Roger Casement and much more.  She is a force to be reckoned with.

Every day she enjoys her newspaper, reading her favorite weekly – the Kerry’s Eye and watching the antics of Dail Eireann on TV, as well as keeping an eye on the Today Show, RTE News and Mrs. Browns Boys, but to name a few.

She attributed her memory, and health to clean simple living and a love of learning.

Grandmother has lived through two wars, the 1916 Rising, 18 American Presidents, and just before her passing on April 17th 2018 – she had just finished reading Fire and Fury.

If you’re looking for a woman who has a zest for life, and some get up and go – Grandmother is the woman! Fondly joking – “the doctor called and he said my ticker is still good!

She is greatly missed by all those that knew her and will forever be our legend and ‘the boss’

A huge personal thank you to Maureen for taking on this commission
I know the boss will be delighted with it.

Amazing Grace with violin. This was such a wonderful commission to do. Its a while since I did a still life and I love the earthy tones of the violin against the colour of the books. Oil on board.
